CNC Machining Services

E.J. Basler offers precision CNC lathe turning services. We have an extensive line of traditional “chucking type” CNC lathes and vertical machining centers. We use leading industry brands such as Miyano, Haas, Doosan, Daewoo, and Puma. Our automatic bar-feeders can accommodate up to 51mm (2”) round barstock, and our hand loaded chucking lathes can hold machined parts up to 300mm (12”) in diameter.

How does CNC Machining Work?

Traditional chucking-type CNC machining works by rotating the workpiece (bar stock, forging, slug) and moving the cutting tool along the desired cutting path. The high-velocity impact of the tool and workpiece then “shears” material off the part to form the desired shapes and CNC machined components.

For live tooling, the part is stopped from rotating in the collet and the tool then has the rotating action to cut the material.

Common materials that we usually work with are copper, stainless steel, brass, aluminum, and many more.

CNC Machining Equipment

All of the precision machining centers at E.J. Basler are vertical machining centers. These machines use vise clamp jaws, collets, or other work holding to secure the workpiece. After being loaded from an automatic tool changer, the tool (drill, mill, tap) then approaches the part from a vertical position and performs the necessary operation.

Vertical machining centers are excellent for secondary-type operations and quick setup times.
