alloy steel machined partsE.J. Basler has been a premier manufacturer of precision machined alloyed steel components. Combining our industry expertise with our precision alloyed steel machining services, we fabricate complex alloyed steel parts for a wide range of applications and industries, including electronics, medical, military, and automotive. We have experience working with various alloyed steel grades and can recommend a specific one that will best meet your part requirements. We offer a wide range of state-of-art machining and secondary processes, including CNC, Swiss, Acme, multi-spindle, Davenport, and Hydromat, that offer advantages such as higher machining speed, close dimensional and form tolerances, improved surface finish, reduced material waste, and longer tool life. We can quickly produce precision machined alloyed steel parts and components that meet strict requirements and specifications with fast cycle times and a high level of accuracy and repeatability.

WHAT ARE ALLOYED STEELS?

alloy steel cnc machiningAll steel is alloyed because it is iron plus an added material. Yet, when we use the term alloyed steel in manufacturing this typically refers to iron material with additional alloys added to it such as: chromium, nickel, silicon, manganese, vanadium, and boron. These are added to increase the strength, wear, and corrosion resistance of the steel. Setting it apart from carbon steels.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ALLOYED STEEL MACHINED PARTS?

Alloyed steel was designed to provide greater strength and durability of the steel. What is amazing today is that there is a material that you can use that fits almost every application. 8620 alloyed steel for instance is great for welding.

  • Lighter than carbon steel
  • High tensile strength
  • Stands up well to high temperatures
  • Completely recyclable for highly sustainable machining

COMMON APPLICATIONS AND INDUSTRIES

ALLOYED STEEL AVAILABLE

E.J. Basler has experience machining high-quality, ultra-precise parts and products from a variety of alloyed steels, including the following:

  • 4140- This alloyed steel has multipurpose use. Making it about mid-range of machinability, weld ability and formability. 4140 is a low alloy steel containing chromium-, manganese- and molybdenum-.  There is higher carbon in it making it better for machining but not as weldable as other alloyed steels.
  • 8620- This is an excellent alloyed steel for welding and formability. It is comprised of nickel-, molybdenum-, and chromium-.
