Six Sigma

Pioneered by Motorola and made popular by General Electric, Six Sigma is a methodology for solving complex problems.

It is a system that tries to control outputs (Y) by measuring and analyzing inputs (X1, X2, etc.). Once a process has been mapped the goal is to reach a capability index going forward.

At E. J. Basler we have adopted these measures and work hard to provide high capability (Cp, Cpk, Z, etc.) processes. With multiple team members trained as Black Belts we are using this methodology to promote data driven decisions in everyday work and projects.

APQP Process

Advanced Product Quality Planning (or APQP) is a framework of procedures and techniques used to develop products in industry, particularly the automotive sector. It is quite similar to the concept of Design For Six Sigma (DFSS). It is defined as ”System developed by the AIAG automotive organization to communicate common product quality planning and control plan guidelines for suppliers to the automotive industry.”

At E. J. Basler we always perform an APQP processes before manufacturing a new part/project. Often times we will use a customer specific APQP process, however, we also have our own internal APQP process. This process is done in what is known as a “green sheet” meeting, which is held a minimum of twice per week. This meeting is for not only new parts but also improving processes for existing parts. Therefore allowing us to give cost savings to our customers.

PPAP

The Production Part Approval Process (PPAP pronounced “pea-pap”) is a set of industry recognized guidelines and processes that ensure proper communication between buyer and supplier. The goal of the PPAP is to establish a single production process that will be used to manufacture a part. This process is analyzed an determined if acceptable/robust enough for future production.

At E. J. Basler our partnerships with automobile companies have led us to the integration of these processes within our systems. We have the ability to do simple level 1 PPAPs all the way to detailed level 5 PPAPs where the customer personally audits the process. Other quality documentations we offer include but are not limited to PSWs, ISIRs, FMEAs, PCPs, etc.
