Chicago is the largest city in Illinois and the seat of Cook County. Built directly on the lake front,
it stretches for 22 miles along the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan. The name, Chicago, is thought to
come from the Algonquian Indian word, Chicagou, meaning "strong" or "powerful." Today, Chicago is commonly
know as "The Windy City".
Chicago is a major Great Lakes port and the commercial, financial, industrial, and cultural center of the Midwest.
The manufacturing industries dominate the wholesale and retail trade, and trade in agricultural commodities is
important to the economy. The Chicago Board of Trade is the largest agricultural futures market in the world.
 The average daily temperature for January has a high of 29° F with a low temperature of 13° F. In July,
the average high temperature is 84°F with a low of 63°F.
Take a stroll along Chicago's Navy Pier and enjoy the many attractions you will find there. Enjoy the
gorgeous skyline views or take a ride on the giant ferris wheel.
Take a boat tour on the Chicago River. Every year, on St. Patrick's Day, this river is dyed green to honor
the many Chicago citizens of Irish descent!
Take a stroll in beautiful Lincoln Park and while you are there, visit the Lincoln Park Zoo.
Admire the beautiful colors of Buckingham Fountain. If you visit during the summer months, there are
always a variety of festivals being held in nearby Grant Park.

If the season is right, go to a Chicago Bears game! 2001 Division champions. This season you'll
need to travel to Champaign to see the Bears play at University of Illinois while Soldier Field is under
construction.

Or go see the World Famous Chicago Bulls play a game. They are currently building a team with some of the best young
talent in the NBA.
Or see the Chicago White Sox play a game of baseball.
Or check out a Chicago Cubs game at historical Wrigley Field. You can still hear Harry Caray's ghost sing
his very own version of "Take Me Out To The Ball Game".
Or enjoy a little ice hockey at a Chicago Blackhawks game.
